The year 3 & 4 children took part in a football competition where they performed brilliantly. During these competitions, there are badges given out for determination, respect, honesty, passion and teamwork. Brilliantly, our children were given 4 out of these 5 badges and showed the exact attitude we want from our Welford children.
We then had football tournaments for the Year 4 & 5 children. The boys went first and played incredibly well, narrowly missing out on a place in the final after being beaten by the eventual winners in the semi-finals. The girls suffered much the same fate when they played in the 5 a side tournament the following week, again losing to the eventual winners in the semi-finals. Our children once again showed incredible spirits and attitudes while making us all very proud here at Welford.
We have competed in a Boccia competition which is specifically for those children who require extra support in and around school and is a wonderful opportunity for the children to take part in competitive sports. They competed brilliantly and once again came back with some badges for passion and team work.
Finally, last week we took part in a basketball competition. We took two teams to take part and both performed brilliantly. One team started off slow, just losing to an excellent Brookfield's team but soon picked up the pace winning their next 3 games. The other team won their first 3 games, only losing when they played the other team from Welford. Once again we came back with badges, this time for determination and respect.
Overall we are really proud of all the children who take part in competitions and it is always a pleasure to watch them competing.
